Gudeng Takes the Lead in Promoting Supply Chain Low-Carbon Transformation
2023.11
In the wave of global sustainability trends, Taiwan's manufacturing industry is inevitably seeking greener and more environmentally friendly production methods. Gudeng Precision Industrial Co., Ltd. recently led 30 suppliers in hosting a kickoff ceremony for the Supply Chain Decarbonization Transformation Initiative, officially launching the "Supply Chain Decarbonization Coaching Program." This initiative, selected by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, is set to assist the Gudeng ecosystem in building a low-carbon semiconductor supply chain by 2025, aiming towards sustainability.
The event featured Lin Bi-yu, head of the Industrial Development Bureau, attending the inauguration oath ceremony. Distinguished guests included Gudeng Precision Industrial Co., Ltd. Chairman Chiu Ming-chien, Chairman Hsieh Ming-ta of the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture Development, Director and CEO Zhou Jian-hong of ZeuSIS Joint Accounting Firm, and Director Chen Shi-xiang of ZeuSIS Innovative Consulting Company. Chiu Ming-chien expressed Gudeng's commitment, along with its 30 suppliers, to achieve a carbon reduction target of 10,000 tons in the supply chain by 2025.
Lin Bi-yu emphasized that achieving sustainability and zero emissions is integral to long-term corporate development under ESG governance. The semiconductor industry is crucial to Taiwan's competitive strength, and the Industrial Development Bureau continues to select robust enterprises with unique and critical technological advantages in specific fields, positioning them as leaders in the global market. Through consistent sustainability goals, guidance on carbon reduction via the "big with small" system by the Chung-Hwa Institute and its satellite factories can create effective pathways for carbon reduction. Gudeng had already reduced carbon emissions through guidance from the Chung-Hwa Institute last year, achieving carbon absorption equivalent to 7.3 Daan Forest Parks annually within six months. From this year to 2025, expanding the concept to a sustainable supply chain with 30 suppliers, the joint declaration of carbon reduction goals at this meeting aims to achieve a total reduction of 10,000 tons.
Hsieh Ming-ta indicated that the operational model of the Chung-Hwa system has been a spirit of guidance for over 30 years. It has successfully assisted industries such as bicycles, hand tools, vehicles, and extended support to continual improvement in the creative life industry and agriculture. Addressing the issue of industrial sustainability, the Chung-Hwa Institute spares no effort in aligning with international standards and market trends, offering guidance in net-zero carbon emissions, supply chain innovation, and digital transformation. This includes carbon footprint identification, energy-saving and carbon reduction diagnostic services, and sustainable lean guidance to swiftly and effectively reduce carbon emissions. Collaborating with ZeuSIS harnesses data management capabilities to assist industries in achieving sustainable low-carbon objectives.
